In 2007, I joined forces with Rosa Carrillo, Carrillo & Consultants, to host a Women in Safety Luncheon as part of the National Voluntary Protection Program Participants Association annual meeting. Recognizing the rising number of women entering the safety, health, and environment field, we sought out to nurture these leaders. The topics discussed in these lunches focused on trust as the foundation of a positive safety culture. We received high ratings and held the luncheons at subsequent conferences. Relationships were formed and careers were nurtured through these sessions.
